Alexa Ortiz was recently seen starring as Maria in The Sound of Music. Other past favorite
credits include Oklahoma (Laurey), Bye Bye Birdie (Rosie), A Christmas Carol (Christmas
Past), Fiorello (Thea), The Gift of the Magi (Della), Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat
(Narrator), Little Women (Meg), Chess (The Arbiter), The Mikado (Pitti Sing) to name a few
and Sister Act in Concert at Feinstein’s 54 Below. Her favorite past Plays and Shakespeare
credits include Doubt (Sister James), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Titania), A Man for All
Seasons (Lady Margaret), and Othello (Bianca). She also casted and directed the show,
Cheaper by the Dozen, and provided vocals for several recording albums and public and
private ceremonies. She performed in the supporting role of Olivia in the feature film, Knots
Urbane, as well as other short films and originated the role of Cupric in the play, And Still
You May Not Know. In addition to her wide range of performance roles and directorial
experience, she also gives back by providing set designs to local youth acting schools and
taught theater performance at a camp to children in Harlem. Alexa started acting at a young
age and sang in her first CD recording at age 16. She plays piano, violin, cello, flute and
guitar, and has composed her own music. She has been trained at the NJ School of
Dramatic Arts with a minor in theater from Rutgers University. She has trained in ballroom
dancing at Indigo Ballroom, NJ School of Ballet, and Flamenco with the Alborada Dance
Company and was trained and on the Division 1 Fencing team with the Sabre sword. As a
member of the Broadway Mentors Program for the past 6 years, Alexa has trained with
several of the program’s professional mentors and vocally with Joy Lober Anderson.
